I<\/span><\/span>n March 2025 The Academic Women\u2019s Choir of the University of Tartu is celebrating its 80th anniversary! <\/span><\/p>\n

Anniversaries are a time to step beyond the traditional choral world and surprise the audience with a new form of expression. A unique concert-performance, “Giving Voice\u201d, is in the making, brought to the stage by director Maria Usk, dramaturge Maria-Lee Liivak, and conductor Triin Koch.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Giving Voice” is a profound tribute to the essence of women and the voice passed down from mothers to daughters, echoing through centuries\u2014from ancient songs to modern whispers. It is a story of women’s strength and fragility, silence and making oneself heard, remembering and forgetting. The production weaves together beautiful choral pieces, ranging from classical works to contemporary compositions, creating a diverse and captivating soundscape.<\/span><\/p>\n

The concert-performance will be in Estonian, with an explanation of the production available in the program for English-speaking audience members.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
