Talk “Design for Change” by Runa Klock (Norway)<\/b><\/p>\n

Designers can influence socially conscious projects. Runa Klock speaks about how design thinking, curiousness and cooperation fuels change and will show how, told trough the story of some of her projects. Klock’s motivations are human and her inspirations are very natural. Inspired by nature and with a human-centered approach, her first big project as a \u201csocial\u201d designer was co-founding Epleslang, an apple juice company that creates 100% unfiltered apple juice from surplus garden apples. A significant component, however, is employing people with disabilities as well as young people without jobs who are looking for work experience.<\/p>\n

Her passion manifests in other like-minded collaborations, like designing tableware for Oslo’s luxury boutique hotel The Thief, which are then made by inmates at Oslo prison; or supporting Pakistani artisans and also providing children with free education through designing Bokhari rugs and baskets and help them find sales-channel.<\/p>\n

Get inspired by the stories behind her work and experience her examples of how designers can use their skill for the greater good!<\/p>\n

Runa Klock<\/b><\/p>\n

Brought up on Norway\u2019s rugged western coast, Runa’s creative work is often inspired by nature, and influenced by a strong interest in materials and crafts. <\/b>Runa is a versatile designer who not only works with products and objects, but also designs events, food and spaces. Runa\u2019s work is characterized by an openness to cooperate with people in a variety of disciplines. Playful and influenced by storytelling, several of her projects also have a strong social profile.<\/p>\n

Runa holds MA in design (Oslo National Academy of the Arts), she is a board member of Klubben (Norwegian Designers Union) and a member of the jury of the Award for Design Excellence in Norway.<\/p>\n
