The Creative Hub\u2019s environmental sustainability requirements and guidelines for event organisers<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Creative Hub has the following requirements and guidelines for event organisers on how to organise events in the most environmentally sustainable way:<\/p>\n

1. WASTE MANAGEMENT<\/strong>
\nSeparate different types of waste: packaging, paper and cardboard, bio-waste and municipal waste.<\/strong>
\n– The Creative Hub has the appropriate sorters to collect all these types of waste. The sorters are marked with the name of the type of waste to be collected in Estonian and in English and are marked with a pictogram in the correct colour in accordance with the Tallinn Waste Management Act.
\n– Different types of waste will be handed over by the Creative Hub to a waste management company holding the relevant environmental permit, in the volume agreed with the event organiser.
\n– The organiser must hand over the different types of waste not covered by the agreement between the Creative Hub and the organiser of the event to a waste management company holding the relevant environmental permit.<\/p>\n

2. ENERGY AND RESOURCE EFFICIENCY\u00a0<\/strong>
\nEnsure sustainable use of resources (energy, water, heating).<\/strong>
\n– When selecting the equipment to be used at an event, the event organiser must ensure that it is as energy efficient as possible and that there is no unnecessary consumption of resources.
\n– The Creative Hub will provide event organisers with a permanent electrical connection.
\n– The Creative Hub will progressively upgrade the existing general lighting and equipment to be more energy efficient.
\n– The Creative Hub will provide event organisers with energy-efficient technical equipment (sound, lighting and video equipment).<\/p>\n

– The event organizer is required to:<\/span><\/p>\n

a) switch off all lighting (except safety lighting) in areas where no activities are taking place;<\/span><\/p>\n

b) completely power off all electrical devices (e.g. TVs, projectors, chargers, AV equipment, etc.). Devices must not be left in standby mode.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. MATERIALS AND PURCHASES<\/strong>
\nOrder inventory, materials and other items in moderate quantities to minimise surplus.<\/strong>
\n– The organiser of the event at the Creative Hub should give preference to reusable or recyclable decorations and fixtures, including reusable name badge holders and lanyards.
\n– Invitations, information material, etc. should be submitted electronically when possible. If paper is used, it must have an eco-label.
\n– For souvenirs and gifts, we recommend giving preference to local products and services or items made from environmentally friendly materials.
\n– The Creative Hub will provide eco-labelled cleaning products (e.g. hand-washing soap, tissue paper and general building cleaning products).<\/p>\n

4. FOOD AND DRINKS<\/strong>
\nUse only reusable dishes, give preference to local, seasonal, organic food, including plant-based foods, and avoid wasting food in the Creative Hub.<\/strong>
\n– Only reusable dishes (e.g., plates, bowls, drinking glasses and cups, coffee cups) and cutlery (e.g., knives, forks, spoons, chopsticks) should be used for serving food and drinks in the Creative Hub.
\n– The organiser must consider the number of participants at the event when serving food and drinks.
\n– Preference should be given to local, seasonal and organic food. Vegetarian food must be provided.
\n– Tap water (instead of bottled water) will be available at the Creative Hub.<\/p>\n

5. TRANSPORT<\/strong>
\nInform participants of the event that the Creative Hub is an easily accessible venue by foot, bicycle and public transport.<\/strong>
\n– In order to avoid traffic jams in Tallinn and to encourage environmentally friendly behaviour, all information and marketing material should include a recommendation to come to the event either by foot, bicycle, public transport or car sharing.
\n– There is a bicycle parking and a Bolt electric scooter charging park in the outdoor area of the Creative Hub.<\/p>\n

– Vehicles arriving in the courtyards of Kultuurikatel must not idle for more than two minutes.<\/span><\/p>\n

6. COMMUNITY AND ENVIRONMENT CONSIDERATION\u00a0<\/strong>
\nTake into account the residents and inhabitants of the area around the Creative Hub.<\/strong>
\n– The organisers must ensure a nighttime quiet period between 22:00-6:00, and between 00:00-7:00 on nights preceding a weekend day, in accordance with the current Law Enforcement Act HERE.<\/a>
\n– The Creative Hub is the former building of Tallinn City Electric Power Station, and as such is protected as an architectural heritage monument, which tells the history of the region to the participants of the event.
\n– The Creative Hub building is a sustainable solution, since a contemporary event and creative centre has been created in the old industrial building.<\/p>\n

7. COMMUNICATION<\/strong>
\nInform event participants about your environmentally friendly activities.<\/strong>
\nGuidelines on environmental sustainability must be openly available to event participants.<\/p>\n
