The long-serving and committed employees of the agencies administered by the City of Tallinn were recognised at a reception held by Mihhail K\u00f5lvart, Chairman of Tallinn City Council, in honour of the 100th<\/sup> anniversary of the Republic of Estonia at the Creative Hub.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mihhail K\u00f5lvart said that numbers and statistics are often spoken about in city governance: the number of residents of the capital, the number of pre-school places and city agency employees, and whether they are administrators, support staff, bus drivers, technicians, gardeners or something else. \u201cWe wanted everyone to see the people, our employees, behind those numbers today,\u201d he said. \u201cWe wanted to use this reception to thank and recognise the people who put their hearts into their work every day, but often go unnoticed in the bigger picture. And yet they are very important in ensuring that everyday life in the city functions as well as it does. All of them have contributed in their work to making the Estonian capital a better place\u201d.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This was the first time the Chairman of Tallinn City Council held such an Independence Day reception. Approximately 280 employees from agencies administered by the city were invited to the reception, including customer service employees, bus drivers, gardeners, guards, cleaners, technicians, teaching assistants and others who do their everyday work with dedication and professionalism, and this has been witnessed by the head of the agency where they work. These long-serving employees, who have worked for the city\u2019s agencies for 40 years or more, were recognised at the reception, which was held to celebrate the 100th <\/sup>anniversary of the Republic of Estonia. The longest-serving employee has worked for the city for 54 years.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

K\u00f5lvart opened the reception with a speech, which was followed by a performance of the cello quartet C-JAM. Singer Anne Veski performed for the guests after the recognition ceremony.<\/p>\n
