Lecture Brussels Productive City by Kristiaan Borret

 

Kristiaan Borret will speak about the peculiarities of the function of his position as a Bouwmeester as a way to improve the quality of urban development projects, and about current urban planning situation in Brussels, especially the Redevelopment Plan for the Canal Area and the concept of The Productive City.

Kristiaan Borret is the bouwmeester/maître architecte (Master Architect Brussels Capital Region) of Brussels Capital Region (Belgium). From 2006 to 2014 he was the bouwmeester of Antwerp (Belgium) and subsequently the dean of the Faculty of Design Sciences at the University of Antwerp. He is professor of urban design at Ghent University since 2005.

In his professional career, Kristiaan Borret has been alternating between theory and practice, between design and policy, between architecture and urbanism. He participated in interdisciplinary research on contemporary transformations of the city and public space, and contributed to various urban design projects in Belgium, Netherlands and France.

The Open Lecture will be hold in Estonian Centre of Architecture. It is open to all architecture students, professionals and general audience intrigued by spacial matters. The lecture will be in English, free of charge.
