The ‘Back to the Action’ exhibition unites the love of two artists for one subject: Kalju Kivi and Eerik Kõuts and their fascination with steampunk. Characterised by bizarre machinery and compositions, steampunk is inspired by the industrial revolution of the 19th century and the steam that powered it. For this reason, much of the action within the genre takes place in an alternate-history Victorian age in England, or conversely in a post-apocalyptic future. Steampunk stands out for its anachronistic technology and retrofuturistic inventions.
